Emily Bissonnette, RMT

Emily received her training in Vernon, British Columbia, where she completed the 3 year Registered Massage Therapy Program.  She uses many techniques in her practice, including myofascial release, muscle energy technique, positional release, Swedish massage, therapeutic exercise, and hydrotherapy.

Treatments can focus on rehabilitation, sports massage, chronic pain, and maintenance. Benefits of massage will include a decrease in pain, improved joint mobility, increased circulation, metabolic waste removal in soft tissue, increased body awareness, and postural realignment in muscles affected by abnormal spinal curvatures.

With a history of competing as a national level gymnast, and then transferring into coaching, Emily strives towards leading an active lifestyle. Her aspiration towards guiding her athletes to feel and perform at their peak was her initial spark of interest in practicing massage therapy.  Over the years, this interest developed into recognizing the importance of musculoskeletal health as a part of true optimal health for the general public.

Bernice is the newest member of our team, having moved here in August, 2011, from Port Alberni to be near her three grown children. While in Port Alberni she worked for an accounting office and prior to that was a shopping centre property manager for 16 years in Northern BC so she brings with her a wealth of office, management and marketing experience. Excellent customer service is one of Bernice’s strongest assets as she conducted workshops on the subject while in the shopping centre industry and believes customer service (good or bad) can make or break any business.

Bernice is a strong supporter of chiropractic care and started seeing her first chiropractor when she was two years old when she was treated for chronic bronchitis! Since then Bernice credits chiropractors for assisting her recovery from an ankle injury and knee surgery as well as treating past back pain. She has seen positive results with us utilizing shockwave therapy in treating her post-surgery scar tissue! Bernice has recently moved her elderly Mother here to live with her, maintaining her belief that the health and happiness of family must be our #1 priority
